Food waste is an increasingly prominent issue on the social agenda and in the media. There is a tendency to place the burden of responsibility on consumers or blame poor management and logistical problems in the food chain. However, a detailed analysis shows that unequal power relations between the actors in the food chain (farmers, intermediaries, consumers, etc.) are a significant factor. It is also thought that rejected food could be used to combat food poverty. ODELA seeks to critically examine these hegemonic perceptions.
